Statement on Arrests Following Extreme Right-Wing Terrorism Threat Against Islamic Event

We welcome the swift response by counter-terrorism police following the arrest of twelve individuals in connection with an alleged extreme right-wing terrorism threat, targeting an Islamic event in Suffolk over the weekend.

We are relieved that the event was able to proceed safely and are grateful to the officers and agencies whose timely action helped protect those attending. Threats motivated by hatred and extremism against any faith community are an attack on the values of a diverse and democratic society.

This incident is a reminder that fear, hatred, and prejudice directed towards one community affect us all. An attack or threat against Muslims, Jews, Christians, or any other faith or community, diminishes the safety and dignity of everyone.

We stand together in rejecting all forms of extremism, racism and religious hatred. We call for continued efforts to challenge division, strengthen community resilience and ensure that places of worship and faith gatherings remain safe spaces for all, where everyone can practise their faith and live without fear.

Our shared message is clear: an attack against one community is an attack against us all.
